"Error: Couldn't get printer information. Make sure you have a default printer."
This error occurs when when trying to print from a Citrix or Terminal Services session in the FRx DrillDown Viewer.
This error can be caused by the following:
- There is no printer installed and set as default on the Terminal Services/Citrix server.
- The user getting the error does not have sufficient rights to set a printer as default or use the default printer on the Terminal Services/Citrix server.
- If using printer redirection or mapped printers from the users Terminal Services session or Citrix session the appropriate drivers may not be installed on the server.
If there is not a printer installed and set as default on the Terminal Services/Citrix server then one must be installed and set as the default printer.
If a user does not have sufficient rights to set a printer as default or use the default printer on the Terminal Services/Citrix server, then the appropriate rights must be given to allow the user to do this. Please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles for steps to resolve this issue:
933996 - A user who is logged on to a Windows Server 2003-based Terminal Server cannot configure a printer as the default printer
843259 - A limited user can no longer print to a shared printer from a terminal server session after you restart the Spooler service in Windows 2000.
If using printer redirection or mapped printers and the user does not have rights to install the drivers necessary for their mapped printers an administrator will need to install these drivers.
